A long, hard climb
The view out over the desert is spectacular and the colours are amazing.

“This is as far as we can go by car. We have to climb from here.” |

“Look, there’s old town way down there, and over there’s the new town. This desert landscape really is beautiful. I can see why you like living here Laura.” |
Ben is studying Jeremiah’s torn map piece.
He is trying to match the ground around them with the thin, spidery marks on the parchment.

“This is definitely the general area. We’ll get a better idea of scale and location when we get to the top.” |

“It looks like a fairly easy climb. But the rocks could be unstable in places. Let’s spread out so we don’t kick stones down on each other.” |

“Come on then, we haven’t got all day.” |

“Take a bottle of water each, and keep drinking. You can get dehydrated quickly out here without knowing it's happening.” |
The detectives and Laura spread out in a line and start climbing. As Brad said, it’s a fairly easy climb as long as they watch their footing on the loose shale.
The dry heat makes them sweat and they have to force themselves to concentrate as they keep on climbing.
