Brad and Ben examine the box.

 

 

 

 

“There’s no lock on it. Grab the other end of the lid Ben. Alright. Open!”

Together Brad and Ben swing the heavy lid back and lean it on the cave wall. Joe shines his flashlight inside and everyone crowds around to see.

There are several skulls and many bones, plus more Shaman rattles, feathered ceremonial fans and other artifacts. And some large piles of strange looking bank notes.

	“That’s Confederate money. It’s useless now.”
	“Gerhard Morganheimer stole a gold nugget in Australia and swapped it for that. He should have kept the gold.”
	“Look at all these bones. Was Jeremiah a grave robber?”
	“No, Laura – he took these things from Gerhard so he could save them and return them. You don’t have to worry about Jeremiah’s reputation.”
	“Thank goodness. But what should we do with everything?”
	“The bank notes would look good on display in MacKenzie Wells old town.”
	“The real treasure is what we can give back to Native American and Australian tribal people. These human remains and precious objects from our ancestors.”

Linda hugs Joe and he grins at her.

	“That’s what Mowaljarlai wanted.”
	“Who? I think you'd better tell me about him.”
