Ghost Mine Episode 11

Mystery at Ghost Mine an Ace Detectives Mystery Adventure

Side tunnels and gates

Jeremiah's second cavern marked on the second map pieceBen looks at Jeremiah’s map again while the others crowd around and shine their flashlights in the dark.

The dust still swirls around them and they are all sniffing and sneezing.

Ben - Ace Detective
“This shows the second cavern 1200 yards further on - just over 1000 meters. The gate we passed near the entrance is marked, plus two others.”
Brad - Ace Detective

“We’ve got Jeremiah’s keys, and hopefully they’ll fit.”

Linda - Ace Detective
“What are we waiting for? Let’s get out of this dust!”

Smaller tunnel branching leftThey set off with Ben leading again, and follow the tunnel around a bend.

Then they see a smaller tunnel branching left.

Laura
“Which way do we go?”
Brad - Ace Detective

“We’re standing in Jeremiah’s main tunnel. He probably made that smaller one to look for extra gold. It could be a dead end.”

Ben - Ace Detective
“It's not marked on the map. I think we should go straight on.”

Iron gate across the tunnel with rubbish on the other side of itThe others agree, and everyone starts walking again.

Then they come face to face with another gate.

It’s locked and there is rubbish on the ground on the other side.

Linda - Ace Detective
“That’s modern-looking rubbish. Jeremiah didn’t leave it.”

Megan - Ace Detective

“Someone’s come up the other way, from the mine’s central tunnel, and couldn’t get past this gate.”

Ben - Ace Detective
“They must have walked through the second cavern to get here.”
Laura
“If Jeremiah hid treasure or anything else there, they probably found it. It’s useless going on, isn’t it?”

Megan - Ace Detective

“No. If he left something it must still be there. People have tried to stop us investigating because they’re afraid we’ll find it. Get the keys out Brad and open that gate.”

Jeremiah's old keysBrad tries one of Jeremiah’s keys in the padlock.

After a couple of attempts the gate opens and they are through.
