Gate inside Jeremiah's mine tunnelBrad leads them forward slowly for about five minutes. Shadows bounce all around from their flashlights and the only sound is their feet shuffling in the dirt.

Suddenly Brad stops. A metal gate blocks the tunnel in front of him.

On the ground is a rusty chain and broken padlock. Brad pushes the gate and it opens with a groan.

The first cavern in Jeremiah's mineEveryone sighs with relief. They move forward again.

After a few minutes the tunnel widens into a small cavern about 3 metres square, with the ceiling just above Brad’s head.

The detectives and Laura move back to back and shine their flashlights around the space. An old bed, table and chair and other bits of furniture stand on a dirty rug.

Brad - Ace Detective

“Jeremiah wasn’t a great interior decorator, was he?”

Linda - Ace Detective
“It’s homely though. He had a stove and plates and there’s an old photo.”
Laura
“It must have been horrible for him being in here alone.”
Brad - Ace Detective

“Man, we’re standing here thinking about Jeremiah and we should be looking at what he left behind.”

Megan - Ace Detective

“There’s nothing else here. He wasn’t hiding anything.”

Brad - Ace Detective

“We need to look for clues and another way out of here. The tunnel must keep going on the other side of this cavern.”

Laura
“Maybe he left a Neolithic sign. Something to do with the sun again?”
Ben - Ace Detective
“Could be a swirling circle – like a snail shell. The Neolithic sign for the sun. Examine the walls everyone.”
