Ghost Mine Episode 10

The sign of the sun

Once again the detectives and Laura spread out and begin to search.

They shine their flashlights on small sections of wall moving from top to bottom, and run their hands over the golden, rocky surface.

 

 

	“There are cobwebs everywhere. Ugghh!”
	“And rat droppings on the floor. Gross!”
	“Concentrate and don’t miss bits of wall.”
	“Yes, sir Brad! I’ll need a shower after this.”
	“I think the sun sign is over here!”
	“Good one, Laura.”

The others rush over to where Laura is crouched near a corner of the cavern. She shines her flashlight for them to see.

 

 

 

	“Let me look. Oh, this is a good carving.”
	“Ben!! Just tell us – is it the sign or not?”
	“Yes – it’s definitely the Neolithic sign for the sun. And this rock seems to be loose!”
	“Let me get my knife at it.”

With steady hands, Brad scrapes his knife around the edges of the large rock and then pushes the blade underneath it. The rook is loose and he and Ben pull it from the wall.

Behind it is a black hole. Megs shines her torch into it and Laura takes a deep breath and reaches inside.
