"There’s writing across the top – “You
must capture the sun…” The rest is torn off. Does
it mean anything to you, Laura?"
"The words don’t. But I think the
building and the Joshua tree show old MacKenzie Wells, with the hills around
it. And
to the right where it's torn, would be Lookout Mountain – and Ghost Mine."
"Ghost Mine! Spooky!"
"Folks have heard strange noises there for years.
They reckon it’s the ghosts of miners killed underground,
still digging. Last year kids said they heard moaning and chains
rattling, and saw a ghost at one of the entrances."
"Well, we’ll need to check it out.
I’m
tired. Let’s meet tomorrow and decide what to do next."
"And maybe we shouldn’t tell Aunt
Jean about this map until we find out more. OK – let’s get some
sleep. I’m still running on Australian time and it’s
been a long day."
"Tomorrow I’ll take you out for breakfast
and show you more of MacKenzie Wells."
"And we can think about this map with clear heads."
"And full stomachs!"
Will the detectives and Laura be able to solve the clue on the torn map? And is Ghost Mine haunted?
