Mystery at Ghost Mine an Ace Detectives Mystery Adventure

Ben the computer whizz

Ben working on his notebook computerAfter lunch Ben works on his notebook with great concentration. Linda listens to her music, brings him water to drink and shares chewy mints with him as time ticks by.

Laura and Brad start preparing dinner for Aunt Jean, and Megan continues her research on Laura’s computer. The house is quiet.

About 4.30 pm Ben saves his files, gets up and stretches, then tells Linda to gather everyone together. He is ready to show them what he’s been doing.

Ben - Ace Detective
“I started with our theory that capturing the sun refers to Neolithic geometry and the positioning of rocks or poles to frame the sun at specific times of the year.”
Linda - Ace Detective
“Yes, yes – but what have you got?”
Ben - Ace Detective
“I downloaded geospatial data for the Lookout Mountain area and used a geographic information system to predict sun path coordinates.”
Brad - Ace Detective

“What does that mean? Give us the short version!”

Ben - Ace Detective
“Okay. I created an on-screen model of Lookout Mountain and calculated the path of the sun on a range of dates over a year.”
Linda - Ace Detective
“Have you found the entrance to Jeremiah’s mine?”
Ben - Ace Detective
“Perhaps. I’ll show you. I started with a map of the area, then added data for the hills and other terrain.”

Ben - Ace Detective
“Then I zoomed in on specific rock formations, and added the sun path coordinates for this time of year.”

The others wait patiently as Ben’s hands flash over the keyboard again.
