Does the name Morganheimer mean anything?
In 1865 Gerhard Morganheimer was wanted by police in Ballarat for robbery. He disappeared around the time the Confederate ship 'Shenandoah' sailed from Port Melbourne for California.
I found his details on the ship's passenger list. He may have changed his name when he arrived in America.
