Ghost Mine Episode 5

Mystery at Ghost Mine an Ace Detectives Mystery Adventure

Clues from Joe

Photo of the Shaman's rattleStill holding the photo of the Shaman’s rattle, Joe makes eye contact with each of the detectives in turn. Then, as if deciding something very important, he looks at Megan again.

Joe Whitecloud
"It seems to be a Shaman's ceremonial rattle."
Megan - Ace Detective
"Can you tell us more about it?"
Joe Whitecloud
"A little. The markings show it's very old."
Megan - Ace Detective

"Did it come from around here?"

Joe Whitecloud "No – it probably belonged to the Chumash people who live further north. Around here are mostly Serrano – and they cremate their dead. A rattle like this was buried with the Shaman for ceremonies he’d conduct in the next land."

Again there is silence, while Joe considers the photo again.

Megan - Ace Detective
"Can you tell us anything else, please?"
Joe Whitecloud
"It's important that this rattle is returned to its rightful owners."
Megan - Ace Detective

"I'm sure it will be returned. I think anyone who has it would look after it until they could return it."

Joe smiles and hands the photo back to Megan.

Joe Whitecloud

"Somehow I think you’re right. I’m sure the rattle will eventually be brought home.Well, I’ve got to get back to work. Your food will be right out. If you need any more Indian information you know where to find me. I’ll keep an eye out for you while you’re in town."

Picking up the coffee pot, Joe turns away from them and walks silently back to the counter. The detectives sigh with relief.

Linda - Ace Detective
"Pheeww! That was intense!"
Laura
"It was unreal! I've never seen Joe act like that before."
Megan - Ace Detective
"He knows more than he told us."
Brad - Ace Detective
"Can you take us to the Old Town when we’ve finished here, Laura? It would be good to see where you found Jeremiah’s old tin box."
Laura
"Sure - it's not far away. Ah - breakfast at last."

Everyone’s thoughts turn to food as Joe’s kitchen hand walks over, balancing their plates along his arms, and grinning at them.

What will the detectives and Laura find in Old Town MacKenzie Wells? And what does Joe Whitecloud know that he won't tell them?
