Smokey Joe's Diner
Laura drives out of town for about ten minutes and as usual, Linda talks about food.
They pull in outside a diner that looks like a movie set built in the desert. The old wooden building has a wide verandah with comfy chairs and several large carved statues.
The door creaks as Laura opens it. Inside the space is big and inviting, with a long counter and open kitchen, and booths with padded leather seats along the walls. The wooden floor has marks where countless boots have trodden over the years, but everything is very clean.
