Ghost Mine Episode 5

Mystery at Ghost Mine an Ace Detectives Mystery Adventure

Smokey Joe's Diner

Laura drives out of town for about ten minutes and as usual, Linda talks about food.

Linda - Ace Detective
"Are there other good places to eat round here, besides Smokey Joe's Diner?"
Laura

"There’s a couple. Nate’s Bar and Grill in the center of town. It’s got pool tables and a jukebox. Mom and dad often go there for a beer. And there’s Tillie Jackson’s Bakery, which has great cakes."

Linda - Ace Detective
"Mmm. Breakfast at Joe's and morning tea at Tillie's. Sounds like a plan!"

Outside of Smokey Joe's DinerThey pull in outside a diner that looks like a movie set built in the desert. The old wooden building has a wide verandah with comfy chairs and several large carved statues.

Linda - Ace Detective
"Wow - this is cool. It's like being in a Western."
Laura

"Joe Whitecloud has owned this place for years. Every now and again he gets a new statue and new tablecloths. He also runs the Indian Trading store next door, so there’s always people coming and going. Joe’s spare ribs and barbecue sauce are the best."

Linda - Ace Detective
"Let's get inside."

Door to Smokey Joe's DinerInside Smokey Joe's Diner

The door creaks as Laura opens it. Inside the space is big and inviting, with a long counter and open kitchen, and booths with padded leather seats along the walls. The wooden floor has marks where countless boots have trodden over the years, but everything is very clean.

Linda - Ace Detective
"I'm going to enjoy this."
Laura

"Come on - let's sit at my usual booth."

She heads off to the left with the detectives following, and stops at the last booth. Then she slides into the center of the bench and the others pile in round her.
