Pre-historic animals move south
Scientists have found evidence that pre-historic animals moved south across the land bridge to escape the cold. These included giant beavers and armadillos, wooly mammoths, saber tooth cats and giant long-horned bison.
Giant bison fossils have been found that are 100,000 years old, and bones from other giant animals that are 40,000 years old.
