Daylesford
Daylesford is the most famous mineral spa center in Australia. Visitors come from all over the world to bathe at the spa baths and drink the mineral water pumped freshly from the ground. More than 50% of Australia’s bottled mineral water comes from Daylesford and the Hepburn Regional Park.
Families can picnic all year round at the mineral springs, and follow maps to find the mineral water pumps dotted around the hillsides. If you want adventure you can go boating on the lake, horse-riding, white-water rafting, canoeing or rock climbing. You can also explore underground boulder caves with glow-worms and cave crickets.
On Sundays, a vintage train runs from Daylesford through the Wombat State Forest, and the weekly market at Daylesford station draws regular crowds. Visitors come to Daylesford at all times of the year, but autumn is busy as people admire the trees with their fall colours. In winter people head for the warm spa baths and cottages with open fires.
